Biography

Vladimir Gavriushov graduated with honors from the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory in 2005. In 2004, he became a member of the Modus string quartet, participating in international masterclasses led by the Artemis and Fitz-Williams quartets, as well as U. Kussmaul, V. Beth, and R. Hillyer (Juilliard Quartet).

Since 2000, he has been actively engaged in historically informed performance, specializing in Baroque cello. He studied with leading European Baroque musicians, including R. Zipperling and M. Leonhardt. In 2005, he began independently learning the viola da gamba and soon became a regular member of early music ensembles such as Pocket Symphony (Moscow, artistic director N. Kozhukhar) and the Musica Antiqua Russica (Saint Petersburg, V. Shulyakovsky), as well as frequently performing with the Chamber Soloists of Minsk (Belarus, D. Subov).

In 2008, he joined the Divertissement Chamber Orchestra under the direction of I. Ioff, and in 2012, he became the principal cellist. With the orchestra, he toured extensively across Europe and Japan.

From 2013 to 2022, Vladimir was a member of the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev. As part of the orchestra, he performed on major international stages alongside renowned soloists such as Mischa Maisky (cello), Gautier Capuçon (cello), and Rudolf Buchbinder (piano), as well as with opera and pop singers including Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Andrea Bocelli, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Renée Fleming, Vasily Gerello, and others. He was also a permanent member of the Stradivari Ensemble of the Mariinsky Theatre under the accomplished guidance of Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici.

In 2022, Vladimir left Russia, and since 2023, he has continued his career as a member of the orchestra of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava.
